Complaint - Mitsubishi Nailsworth

I was driving normally and all of a sudden I heard a rattle in the exhaust around 2000 - 3000 rpm rev range. So i took my evo to Nailsworth Mitsubishi and they said they couldn't hear anything, is because they didn't want to fix it under warranty or what? i have had it checked by my friend who is a qualified mechanic and he said it was coming from the exhaust as well. After a few going back and forth to mitsubishi, i had to threaten them by saying "what if i went to an independent mechanic?" Then they found a crack there the exhaust was welded, they welded it back up. It did the same not long after that. I then gave them another call and after about 3 weeks later the part comes in for them to change. As far as i know, this is very unprofessional for them. Not only i had a rattle in my exhaust it also gives Mitsubishi a bad name for everyone when i drive it and it is seen/heard by others.

QLD - EVO-08 number plates for sale

I have a set of QLD personalised plates for sale. They are metallic dark blue with white lettering ( EVO - 08 ). They have not been on a vehicle since 2004.

Front plate is slim lined ( slight bend in it ) and rear normal sized. Obviously once you own it you can then order them in a new colour for approx $ 50 from the RTA.

I've heard that the MY07 trim included

- a revised front spoiler/lip detail

- red stitching on Recaro seats

- alloy scuff plates

Replacement Tyres for an EvoIX

Hi,

Has anyone with an EvoIX had to replace their OEM tyres yet. The Yokohama's they come with are not available in Australia. What have people tried and how do they compare with the originals?

I would like to hear actual experience of the specific tyre on the car, not just general recommendations. Do Mitsubishi recommend a replacement Brand and Model?

Modding Evo IX without voiding warranty

Hi guys. I just want to clarrify that before i ask my questions i am new to the area of modifying cars so fif any of these questions have been asked in previous threads, the reason i ask them again is because the discussion is too advanced for my understanding.

I want to mod an evo IX without voiding waranty. Is the only way to do this using ralliart parts? Is it possible to get the power up to 250kw and if so how (i.e. what ralliart parts)? Could you please give me the prices or a link to the prices for these parts. Also with such a power increase would other apsects of the car have to be changed as well. I am hoping to get the evo's 0-100 km/h acceleration time under 5 seconds. Is this possible without breaking warranty?

Clutch restrictor

Hi All,

We have all heard about the Evo clutches being the weak link, I am replacing mine after 40,000 Kms although not bad I have had some slippage and my car currently has 300Hp ATW which is the limit from what I have picked up around the traps.

I came across an article on Evomoto.com that talks about removing the hydraulic clutch restrictor from the slave cylinder, apparently this limits the speed of uptake hence reducing shock loading. It is a small olive with a very small orrifice for the hydraulic fluid to flow through. I get the impression (correct me if I am wrong by all means), that if you launch with some vigour this restrictor will allow some slippage until the full take up is achieved. Obviously do this enough and you are going to grind down your clutch disc hence leading to greater wear and more slippage. I have not removed this from my car yet but wondering if anyone out there has tried it or is aware of it or is it just fitted to the US cars?

I don't really like to vent anger but I would like to complain about the service I had yesterday at EASTSIDE MITSUBISHI Nunawading.

I've been Subaru owner for many years and never experience this.

I asked about the Yellow Evolution 9 DEMO car which was for sale. Yes Demo car not NEW. This salesman completely ignored me. OK that’s fine sometimes you don't need the pressure of salesman trying to push a sale. So i thought OK I would like to test drive the car and ask. The salesman abruptly said its does not work like this and come back later when you are serious. I laughed and booked a test drive at Footscray Ralliart for next week

Absolutely pathetic service. Sorry Mitsubishi i think I’ll stick with an STI.

Q: Clutch slipping at 13,500?

Getting slip in 4th (and shuddering when cold) and I took it in to Mitsubishi and they have advised they wont replace it under warranty!

I've had an old WRX (120k) and an STI (75k) and neither have had issues like this - especially not after 13k.

I don't think this is an acceptible position for Mitsubishi to take - any thoughts on how to approach this?

Also, if the OEM clutch is that bad, thoughts on an aftermarket clutch and shop who can fit it in Qld?

Evo VI Differential Problems?

Hi,

I'm new to the forum, but recently. I just purchased a 1999 Evo VI GSR. It only has 50,000klms on it. When I purchased the car it was running perfectly. But two days later noticed a strange noise developing from the back of the car.

I took it to my mechanic, he first thought it may have been the bushes. But after pulling the whole rear suspension out and checking the rear cv joints and ball joints with everything passed with flying colours.

The noise still appeared, it only happens when I turn the wheel sharply to take a corner or go round a roundabout. It sounds like your gutting a live cat! But the sound travels for a long time and you can hear it go from left to right.

So is it possible that someone may have serviced it and put in the wrong fluid in the diff? To make the clutches slip in the diff or affect the AYC unit?

My Evo IX which has done 23,000kms has had the turbo hose blown off on two occasions. Has anyone experienced a similar problem and if so, what are the remedies? Is it a problem with the blow off valve? The car is stock standard and I am about to put my car into a blender if it continues...

I guess this is going to open up a large can of worms but I want to know...

Do we ever think that the FQ range will be offered to owners in Aus?? As the UK range of FQ are fully covered by Mitsi Warranty.. So far we are offered the TMR range... nice but what about the FQ320 FQ340 and the FQ360?? They are supplied with a similar package that MRT offers... but I think that invalidates the warranty... Why can't we be offered this packages under the warranty??
